We admire one of the most famous Peak District views before leaving Monsal Head for the village of Cressbrook, sitting on the River Wye. Our route passes through the colourful village of Tideswell, home to Tideswell Church and known as the Cathedral of the Peak, as we head to a remote section of the Dark Peak. The isolated Abney Moor houses the 14th century Highlow Hall, said to be the most haunted house in Derbyshire…
The contrasting landscape continues with green fields to one side and moorland to the other. We put the car through its paces as we climb up to Stanage Edge from Hathersage and on to a very special destination packed with period drama.
The renowned David Mellor Design Museum Café greets us at the bottom of our descent with specialist teas and irresistible homemade cake.
Refuelled, we journey through The Plague Village of Eyam and along Longstone Edge keeping watch for the commanding views of Monsal Head.
Why not make your day more memorable? Indulge in a homemade, traditionally English picnic in a handpicked location carefully chosen for its idyllic countryside setting.
